This is a hybrid-remote role, you must be able to commute to our Derby based office every day during training, and then 2/3 days a week after that.

App4 Developments is a software company specialising in creating online ordering platforms for businesses in the food and hospitality industries. We are based in the center of Derby, in a modern office environment with a small team of passionate, hard-working individuals who create a very outgoing and friendly atmosphere.

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Front-End Developer to join our team and collaborate with our designers in building visually stunning, interactive and responsive websites and apps, predominantly for restaurants and online stores. You will be working to tight deadlines so must be able to apply your skills quickly and effectively using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP. Whilst not essential, some UI and web design experience would be beneficial. Knowledge of publishing Android and Apple apps, website SEO and WordPress would also be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Liaising with our design and customer account management teams to understand requirements for building apps and websites.
  • Developing user-interfaces for new and existing internal products that are highly user-friendly and easy to use.
  • Building WordPress themes from scratch, using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and the Twig templating engine.
  • Creating apps using CSS/SCSS based on visuals the designers have produced.
  • Publishing apps to the Apple and Google stores.
  • Any other ad hoc tasks

Skills/Requirements

  • Strong understanding of key front-end web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP.
  • Experience using CSS pre-processors such as SCSS or Less.
  • Willingness and capability to learn and stay up-to-date with new technologies and languages.
  • Basic knowledge of Figma or the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to remain open to feedback and constructive criticism.
  • Great communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Working to tight deadlines.

Desirables

  • Understanding of basic SEO principles and website performance.
  • Strong ability to create designs and prototypes using Figma
  • Experience using front-end libraries such as React or Vue.
  • Good knowledge of version control systems such as Git or Azure Dev Ops.
