As a result of year-on-year growth, an excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join a very successful and highly respected M&E Building Services contractor based in Oxfordshire.

The company provide a full range of Mechanical and Electrical Building Services from design, through to supply, installation and commissioning. Projects undertaken are predominantly within the high end residential and commercial fit out sectors, with typical contract values ranging from £100k up to £3m.

The ideal candidate will live within a commutable distance of Head Office based on the outskirts of Didcot, Oxfordshire, and have a minimum of 5 years Mechanical estimating experience.

Remuneration Package for the position of Mechanical Estimator:

• Base salary: £55,000 to £65,000 depending on experience

Relevant Qualifications in subjects such as Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, Plumbing and Heating etc would be desirable.

Mechanical Estimator - Key Activities

• Respond to tender queries, prepare and submit competitive tender packages and quotations with values ranging from £100k up to £3m in accordance with the client’s requirements
• Assess the complexity of each project to determine the cost of labour and materials
• Meet with clients as necessary to clarify design requirements and explain basis of estimates to ensure bid proposals meet needs
• Analysis of contract documentation and preparation of accurate sub-contractor packages for pricing, as well as liaising and negotiating with sub-contractors and suppliers
• Drawing ‘take offs’ – take off quantities from drawings or bill of quantities and preparation of schedule of rates
• Determine contractual, financial, technical and operational risks and to find opportunities to minimise risk and maximise gross profit
