Victoria Nursery is an exciting ’start up’ project based in a large building on Gladstone Road, Northampton. Elim Church Northampton has relocated its’ Sunday services to a central location in Northampton. Due to this move, the vision is to convert the building on Gladstone Road into a community hub, which will include a fully functioning nursery with dedicated childcare provision, opening in January 2022, with the successful candidate beginning in September 2021. There is no requirement of being a practicing Christian, however, we would require that the successful candidate would identify with the morals and values of the Christian faith

This is an amazing and rare opportunity for an experienced and dedicated person to lead the project from start to finish, having input on the recruitment, setup and style of provision offered. The Nursery Manager will be a leader who will implement, inspire, support, encourage and lead our nursery through this exciting time as we seek to grow our presence in this area. The Nursery Manager will help broaden and deepen our provision to the children as we develop. The aim is to deliver a high quality, flexible, childcare setting, ensuring that the best possible environment and care is provided for young children. Accountable to the Operations Director, they will work as a member of the staff team in planning the life of the Nursery as well as groups, special projects and events.

The person appointed will:

Skills and Abilities

  • Have five years of post-qualification practical experience of which at least two years have involved managing and supervising staff
  • Experience of working with children under 5, and have a mature and sensitive approach
  • Excellent knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and accompanying non statutory guidance
  • Knowledge and experience of OSTED regulations
  • Knowledge & proven practical experience of implementing good quality learning opportunities.
  • Experience of working with parents and children in crisis, and being able to work across a multi-disciplinary team would be an advantage
  • Experience of leading meetings and delivering training
  • Highly effective communication and leadership skill
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to change
  • Possess basic computer literacy skills including use of Microsoft Office and the internet

Qualifications

  • At least, an approved level 3 qualification in Early Years (level 4 desirable) - As defined by the Department for Education on the Early Years Qualifications List
  • Minimum of Level 2 qualifications in English & Maths
  • Paediatric First Aid
  • Level 3 Safeguarding
